Founded in 1999, the AIWA is a national non-profit organization whose sole mission is to secure funding and support for maintenance of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway — the Marine Highway 95 that runs the length of the Atlantic seaboard and serves as a vital transportation artery along the east coast.

Safe, navigable passage is fundamental to our national transportation system and we are working hard to keep the waterway maintained and dredged.

We depend on a robust membership base to support our growing list of initiatives and the AIWA continues to thrive due to the diversity of groups we represent. Your participation is critical to our efforts.

YOUR MEMBERSHIP HELPS US TO:

  • Be a Strong Voice in Washington. We work with Congress to ensure an adequate, continuous flow of federal funds for maintenance by convincing the appropriate Congressional committees of the soundness of continued investment in the waterway.

  • Work with all levels of the Corps of Engineers to adequately fund the needs of the Waterway.

  • Identify, address and publicize issues that affect the waterway and its users.

  • Support and collaborate with other like-minded local, regional, and national waterway industry organizations.

  • Actively pursue innovative, economical, and environmentally acceptable methods of maintaining the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Annual Meeting

Each November, the AIWA hosts our Annual Meeting which brings together our members with decision makers and stakeholders including the US Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, US Coast Guard, elected officials, business leaders, marine press organizations, and others who work and advocate for the waterway.
